Choosing an AI Consultant in Basildon: Six Questions Before You Say Yes
A short buyer's checklist for an owner who has been told AI will save time and wants to know who to trust with it.
To find an AI automation consultant in Essex, ask for someone who will build and install a working system in your own tools, not only write a report. Dean Keating does that remotely from Horndean, Hampshire, and the first call is free. Compare at least one other provider. Call or WhatsApp 07418 627304.
The search is the easy part
Type the phrase into a search box and you will get a long list: individuals, small agencies, training firms, and larger consultancies that happen to have an Essex page. The hard part is telling them apart. These six questions do most of the sorting.
1. Who will actually do the work?
Some consultants advise and leave you to implement. Others build the thing. Neither is wrong, but you should know which you are buying before the first invoice. Dean Keating's service is the second kind: he builds the agents, installs them on your systems, trains your staff and supports it.
2. What is the first thing it will change?
A good answer is one specific task, such as answering new enquiries or chasing quotes. A bad answer is "your whole business". He says he starts with the single task that makes the most difference.
3. Does it work in the tools I already use?
If a consultant wants you to move to new software, ask why. His website describes agents installed in the tools you already use.
4. What do I keep if I walk away?
After his free call you leave with a plan you can use with or without him. Ask every consultant the same thing.
5. When do you tell me the price?
Many small providers publish a figure. He does not publish a price list; the cost comes after the free call, with no obligation. Neither approach is a red flag, but a vague answer to "roughly how much" is.
6. Where are you, and does it matter?
Most AI setup is done on screen, so distance matters less than it did. It matters if you want someone in the building. Dean Keating is in Horndean, Hampshire; he builds remotely, and his website says he can visit businesses in Hampshire or nearby. For Essex, plan on video calls, and look at providers based closer if you want face-to-face.
A note on the businesses in this directory
The listings here lean towards retail, food, leisure and public services: 28 businesses across ten categories as of 10 October 2026, with shopping the biggest at nine. If your own firm is small and service-based, such as a clinic, a garage or a mobile trade, it is the enquiry and admin side that AI usually reaches first.
