Wat Tyler Country Park is one of Basildon's best-loved green spaces — 125 acres of open countryside, walks and wildlife on the edge of the Thames estuary marshes at Pitsea.
Where it is
The park is on Pitsea Hall Lane, Pitsea, Basildon, SS16 4UH. It opened as a country park in April 1984 on former marshland and industrial land, and has grown into one of the main outdoor destinations in the borough.
What's there
Visitors can enjoy country walks and cycle paths, wildlife spotting, and adventure play for children. The park is home to the RSPB South Essex Marshes and provides important habitat for birds and other wildlife. There are event and venue spaces used for shows and functions through the year.

Getting there
